FINALLY it’s done and all the 25 polling centres in the Permatang Pauh parliamentary by-election closed at 5pm. Election Commission secretary Datuk Kamaruzaman Mohd Noor has informed  that 37,035 people or 63.75 per cent of the 58,459 voters had cast their votes as at 4pm.

The result was expected to be known between 9.30 and 10.30 Tuesday night, he told Bernama.

The by-election is a three-corner fight among Parti Keadilan Rakyat advisor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, the Barisan Nasional’s Datuk Arif Shah Omar Shah and Hanafi Mamat of Akim.

In the March 8 general election, 82.06 per cent of the 58,449 voters turned out to exercise their rights.
