One out of three…
I don’t know whether do you believe or not but an approximately one third of the workforce in the country is foreign, the Home Minister Syed Hamid told Parliament today. According to him, currently we have between 2.1 to 2.2 million foreign workers and this means out of 9 million workers, 25 per cent are foreign.
He also added that this did not include illegal immigrant workers, which he said stands at 1.2 million. This means that there are more than 3.3 million foreign workers in Malaysia.
This is a marked increase from the beginning of the year when then Deputy Human Resources Minister Datuk Abdul Rahman Bakar said that there were 2.01 million foreign workers and the government would halve the figure by 2015 which is Impossible for me to do.
Maybe from that 3.3 M figure, only 10 percent can we consider expatriate or the professional who helped Malaysia in catching-up the technology and the rest is blue collar worker especially plantation, construction and factory operator.
Can you imaging THAT MAYBE one day FELDA, FELCRA, KESEDAR, KETENGAH or KEJORA which are supposed to be BUMI periuk nasi will be owned by foreigner?… or our development halts because of no crane operator, no lorry hantu driver or no mason for architectual finishing works.. very scary ehhh
