I didn’t know what on earth that the engineer and architect design the flat roof for the houses in Malaysia. With all the rain come and go throughout the years and the flora is everywhere, its became the headache for me to resolve the waterproofing issue in which resulted the leakage problem. My subordinate reported that many complaint of leakage problem received this week due to heavy downpour in Kerteh last few days. And I am today climb the roof just to do inspections for about 4-5 hours.
So If you are a designer or an architect, please bear in mind that all roof for building in Malaysia shall be pitched roof and please make sure that your gutter and rainwater downpipes are big enough for all the leaf and other ‘sampah sarap’ can easily flow the water and those rubbish . And please also learn more about the overall property life cycle and not just design and build because the word of MAINTENANCE should be on the top list during the design process.
…….. after all … the world is not flat ‘kan’…. so don’t be so straight…
