Recently I did my presentation to our Readers’ Club and I talked about a book by Robin Sharma, The Greatness Guide. Actually I really want to recommend this book for you out there especially if you have or facing office dirty politic. Saying that, i am very fortunate because, I’ve yet to encounter any of that in my present workplace and hopefully will last till i move to another subsidiary….

This book is about how we should enjoy our personal life and our career/working life. There are 101 guide for you to become great to yourself, your famiy and to your surrounding. If I have to judge this book, then I am pleased to give it 9 out of 10. So, all of you out there, please get this book and I am sure this book will not dissapoint you…

Ok .. back to our subject which is BE A ROCK STAR AT YOUR WORK…. (actually this also one of the guide in that book). What’s that mean with this phrase is we should give my full enthuasism during our works. in other word, you have to be wildly passionate about your TO DO’s , being breathtakingly commited to your big project or assignment and take or ride on every opportunity.

Actually, work gives us meaning to our lives. It influences our self worth in this world. Then, we have to remember that that if we do our best in our works, then it will all come back to us. In other words, being great in what you do isn’t just something that you do for your organisation that you work for but also for YOU – it’s like a gift to yourself.

Can you imagine, how do you feel when you have ultra-productive day? or How do you feel when you’re given yur best, had fun with your teammates/colleagues? .. or you’re gone to extra mile fro your client/boss/customer/subordinates etc…or How do you feel when you reached for your greatest goals and grabbed them?..

For all of the above .. I am really really sure that it make you feels pretty good, doesn’t it?

(and above all you dont need the biggest title to do best job… either your are cleaner, manager, exec, technician or even clerk, i am sure you can practice this …)

SO……..  be a ROCK STAR at work today. Walk onto the stage on this day and play your heart out. GIve the performance of your life… WOW the audiences and give your best to get them cheering for you…

FOR THAT I’M SURE YOU’LL BE A TRU ROCK AND ROLL STAR .. .. (and i am looking forward to get your autograph)

Everybody loves reading isn’t it? So this tips you might want to know and practices when you want to but a good book. This tips for me maybe “ Cakap tak Serupa Bikin” because I’m always ‘hentam keromo’ when buying books.

Sometimes, browsing the library or a popular bookstore, you come across several interesting titles that might be worth a second look. Picking up the closest one, you scan it quickly, trying to decide if it’s worth getting. How do you know if your time will be well spent or if you’ll give up halfway through? That’s dilemma faced by avid readers who value the quality time spent poring over a book. Herewith some tips I got from NST few weeks ago. So, read on..

1) Surf the Web.
Subscribe to publishers’ newsletters or on-line book lists. Many enzines offer paid or unpaid subscriptions and publish latest titles or book deals for their readership. Some arrive five days a week, others post monthly. You can also do a Web search to find sites where new or old book titles are posted and reviewed. Evaluators’ credentials may be listed too, so you’ll have an idea of who is providing the review and whether you are apt to find the commentary meaningful.

2) Read publishers’ or writers’ magazines.
Many advertise prominent new titles or offer reviews of books in print, and you may be able to find titles categorized by genre or author.

3) Keep tabs on your favourite authors.
Many post Web sites list previous, current, and upcoming titles, along with book excerpts or sample chapters. Some even discuss their reasons for writing the book or how they developed some of their characters. Visitors can get a feel for the new work to decide if it’s something they want to read.

4) Join or visit a specific genre organization.
National or international group hold conferences, maintain Websites, and publish enzines with the latest information on specific genres and authors. Science fiction, romance novels, and other types of writing enjoy huge number of followers who stay in touch via the organization. Cruise by a favourite genre type for information about upcoming selections.

5) Study a book’s front and back covers.
The front typically offers a visible lure with titillating graphic, compelling statistics, or an editor’s blurb that will prompt readers to start reading. On the back you may find author information, reviewers’ excerpts, and brief summary of the book’s contents. Sometimes sales information is included.

6) Check the table of contents or inside covers.
A table of contents may list chapter names unless chapters are only numbered, which may be. The book may be divided further into larger sections that are named to give readers a better idea of the themes developed throughout the book. If the book is a hardback with appear cover, the inside cover pages may include authorial detail or plot summary.Don’t waste your time and money in making random selection of reading materials unless you like surprise. Spend a few minutes browsing sites, links, and covers to find one that will be worth it.

Geek-kO says : I’m yet to finish my latest two books ie. Tuesday with Morrie by Mitch Alboom and The Greatness Guide by Robin S Sharma.
